Returns filed with Aces are getting rejected just for the reason that the return filed is for the period prior to the date of registration. But the CBEC has reconsidered this issue and has decided to accept such type of Returns as a valid Return. A communication in this regards received from Aces is reproduced here below for your reference:

Dear Sir/Ma'am,
Service Tax return for the period July-September, 2012, which was uploaded by you in ACES was rejected by the system on the ground that this return was filed for the period prior to the date of your registration. CBEC has reconsidered the decision and has decided to accept this return as a valid return. It has been reprocessed in ACES and the status of such returns is now being shown in ACES as 'filed'. You can view the status of your return in ACES under 'View XML Status' option. If the status does not show it as 'filed', you can seek help of the ACES Service Desk by sending e-mail to aces.servicedesk@icegate.gov.inor by calling up national toll-free number 1800 425 4251 on any working day from Monday to Friday between 9 AM and 7 PM and on Saturdays from 9 AM to 2.30 PM.
You are not required to file the return again for the same period. However, if the return was rejected for any other reason, you are required to take corrective action as per the reason of rejection intimated to you earlier.
